1st off this is a program that UAC blocks until I tell it to run.

I gave up on UAC and turned it off. Now the program runs fine. So does the rest of the machine with UAC off now.

Naturally I have the red X icon for the past few months telling me what Iknow about UAC. Can't get rid of that at all.

Anyway's the icon that just recently disappeared is a necessity. I use itdaily at a minimum.

How do I get the icon back ? I tried running the program directly, it normally boots with the computer. The program runs, but I have no access to the interface that comes with the tray icon.

Right-click the the Start Menu button on your Taskbar and choose Properties.
On the Notification Area tab, choose Customize. Find your program in the
list, and change the Behavior to "Show".

As to the UAC notification, go to Control Panel > Security Center. On the
left-hand side of the window, click on
"Change the way Security center alerts me"...

That's no fix. That's what I tried first. I finally just jumped to the folder, to see if there was a separate interface. And it did. I just reran it, and re saved the config. No idea why that worked, as the configfired up with the interface set to show in the tray.

Yeah I saw that long ago. Even with the 3 different settings, there aren't enough.
You have to tell it to not alert you and remove the icon, just to remove the icon. IOW: The entire machine is now vulnerable except for what Trendfinds.
I'd have preferred a 4th option, hide the icon EXCEPT when there is a security breach. But then I guess the way this OS thinks if UAC is off, everything is off.
Oh well I'm ok with UAC off, and not swatting canidoit popup's all day.
How is anyone managing with all those popup's every time they blink theireyes ?
