Tried to restore Medion laptop to factory settings

I used my restore disk to restore my medion laptop back to factory settings .
I followed all the instructions but it just installed windows (vista).
When it eventually finished i had only one icon on my desktop. my recycle bin
and nothing else.

I looked at install/uninstall programmes and there is nothing there either.
A lot of programmes that came wth the laptop are missing.

Some of my files are still there but things like my favourites in explorer
are not.

Can anyone help me get back my laptop and how to get it back to factory
settings?

Hi,

What you probably did was a wipe and reload. Basically a clean install to a
formatted disk. Set folder options/view tab to see hidden and system
folders. If there is a windows.old folder on the root of the drive, then
there is a chance you can recover the old installation. Otherwise, you're
out of luck. Check also your system documentation for an application
recovery disk that may contain any preloaded programs, or contact Medion for
such.

Thanks Rick, have a few of those folders but too complicated for me, so will
phone medion tomorrow. Thanks again for replying
