Trojan message

Hi Guys
Windows Defender keeps telling me I have a Trojan. The bloody thing keeps
popping ads up whenever I try using a link on the net. So far, that's all
it does, which is annoying, but not serious as such.

The error code is 0x80508021, and I wonder if anyone else out there has
managed to get rid of this pest and how?

If you do not have an Anti-virus installed, install Avast anti-virus(only if
NO other Anti-virus installed!), and install Spybot Search & Destroy
Anti-spyware Program.

Follow instructions below on installing security Programs, and scanning in
Safe Mode to remove the Trojan.

Avast Anti-Virus is Vista compatible (32bit and 64bit Versions), FREE,
auto-updating, and a low resources user of your computer.
And, only have 1(one) Anti-Virus installed / running on your computer at any
one time..
Conflicts may occur if you have more than 1(one).

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.5.2 is a very good, FREE Anti-Spyware Program.
Download, install, update, and immunize your System with it.
Then SCAN with it.
Update it, and scan your System once a fortnight.

Important re: Safe Mode
If you happen to find a problem that you can’t uninstall / delete, reboot
the computer, and go into Safe Mode.
To get into Safe mode, tap F8 right at Power On / Startup, and use UP arrow
key to get to Safe Mode from list of options, then hit ENTER.
RESCAN your computer with your Anti-virus and Spybot S & D while in Safe Mode.

body....."

See if Mick's suggestion does any good. The important thing is not what
you are seeing but what else it might be doing invisibly, eg getting
passwords or personal info about you. It sounds like Adware but if that
is present the EVEN MORE important thing is to figure out how it got
there so you can avoid that mistake in future.

This crap often comes with things like fancy "Smilies" and
"Screensavers", or "Send this joke to a friend" websites.

Pick some strategies from websites like this one, watch out for similar
sounding fake one's that will foist crap on you.

Like it or not "You" an protect your computer better than any single
automated system, many are little more than snake oil and even the good
one's are worthless if you invite trouble, so get to know as much as you
can, knowledge is power and protection.
