trouble accessing w2k3 webserver from internet

With 2 test servers a windows 2000 server & a windows 2003 server on the
same lan connected to the internet via a router w static internet IP and
registered domain.

When I setup the router to forward requests to port 80 to the w2k server ,
everything works fine - I can access the local webserver from the internet.
However when I forward 80 to the w2K3 server it is as if the server does not
exist.
There is no firewall on this server and I followed the directions at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816792 to open port 80.
I can access the server from the lan but not from the internet.

I am guessing that something else is still blocking the port but I have no
idea what.

I would start by removing the port filtering as it complicates things for no
purpose.
Can you tell us more about the configuration of the W2K3 server? Is it
multi-homed?

Hi Anthony,

thanks for the response.

I dug into this a bit more after the 1st post and found that 'allow all' was
the default behaviour if filtering was disabled and since filtering is
already setup on the router that there was no point in doing it on the
server - so filtering has been removed.

It looks like the router needed a reboot after modifying the port
forwarding.
Everything is now good to go.
