IOW, using the Windows Update website instead of downloading from Windows
Update or Windows catalogues?
With Automatic Updates enabled, do updates download that way?
IN RE Defender Beta2: For some users, there is a known bug when opening
email attachments and when downloading files (especially executables).
Start > Run > (type in) Regedit > OK
Navigate to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Discardable\PostSetup\Component Categories\{56FFCC30-D398-11D0-B2AE-00A0C908FA49}
Right-click on it > Delete it > Close Regedit > Reboot.
Microsoft has established separate newsgroups for Windows Defender Beta2
support and comments. If the above didn't help, please post further
questions about the issue to one of those newsgroups. See
