I am trying to install Microsoft Screenrecorder. When the folder i
unzipped there are 3 files: ScreenRecorder, Setup, WMEncoder

When clicking on either of the first two a sign pops up stating tha
this WMEncoder has to be installed first. But I think something is goin
wrong with this because the bar fills clear to the end and then jus
sits there and nothing more happens. I've been waiting now for 1
minutes and it still hasn't finished so you can click on the Nex
button.

I am running Vista Home Premium/2GB RAM/high speed DSL connection

Does anyone know what could be going wrong

I clicked the edit button to add to this. I canceled the installatio
of this encoder and had to use task manager to end task. Then I went t
Remove Programs and it appeared there so I uninstalled it. But when I g
to C/Program Files/Windows Components the Encoder folder is there an
full of all kinds of files. Can someone please help me with this? If
click on the installation file to try and install again I get a sig
that there is another installation in progress and I have to wait fo
that to finish

I finally used System Restore to get back to where I was before I tried
installing this and now there is no longer a Windows Components
Folder/Encoder Folder in C/Program Files. But I really would like to be able
to install this Screen Recorder if someone could help me figure out what is
going wrong.

If you post a download link for it, I'll attempt to install it on my Vista
system.

First I went to
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/m...2.aspx?pr=blog and from that page clicked on this link: UtilityOnlineMarch092009_03.exe

Before trying to install this I had finally upgraded to IE8, installed it on
a clean boot, and everything seemed to be working fine. After all my problems
with this screen recorder and the system restore, now IE8 stops responding
and then I get a message in my task bar telling me that something called DEP
(I think that's what it was) has closed it to protect my system.
