Trouble with UAC

Hi

I have Ultimate 64, I usually have UAC turned off because I am a single
user/administrator and there is not network here.

Today I thought had to turn UAC on to run a program, it turns out that was
wrong but
in any case, I cannot turn UAC back on.

When I go to User Accounts and click on "Turn User Account on or off"
nothing happens.

When I right click on an executable and select Run as administrator I get an
error box that says
"C:\Program Files(86)\and the path to the exe file"
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it
has no enabled devices associated with it."

As far as I can tell UAC is not actually running.

I tried to go to services but when I right click on Computer and select
Manage I get the same message without the path.
IE "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because
it has no enabled devices associated with it."

Any idea how I can fix this, I would appreciate any relevant advice.

regards

Daniel

Hi

this did not fix my problem so I ran System restore from the Vista install
DVD,
it would not run in Windows, and that fixed the problem, I then installed
Tweak-UAC
but as soon as I went to turn on UAC mode I got the same problem, now I
cannot
uninstall it and will have to System restore again.

Anyone know what the problem is caused by?

regards

Daniel
