Troubles with Windows Vista

I recently bought a laptop with Windows Vista pre-installed on it. At first
it was okay. But then I started encountering small problems with it. For
instance, I couldn't launch my Media Player at all, then I resolved this by
using the run as administrator option in the right-click menu. then I
launched Internet Explorer, and I couldn't run games in Flash or Java. The
same solution fixed that. Now my computer is acting extremely erratic. I
tried backing up my files and performing a system restore, and it didn't
help. After exhausting option after option, I finally chose to do a full
restore to factory default, and now I cannot even log into the system without
it taking ages to finally load. I cannot even restore my files I backed up
because the DVD drive doesn't run. This operating system, in my opinion,
totally sucks, and I would rather roll back to windows XP, but I can't even
do that because of the wacky permissions of Vista still controlling the file
system. I know that XP had problems when it was first launched, as well as
other systems, but nothing like what I'm experiencing. I don't think that
even after the service packs are released that I will ever like or even
purchase Vista again. I've had too many problems with it and I'm about to
purchase a new drive for my laptop and install XP on it. If there is anyone
who can help me with this very serious problem that I'm having, please email
me because I am at the end of my rope and I'm about to take a sledgehammer to
my laptop.

Could you give us the specs on your machine? Did you check the Event Viewer
to see if there are any messages relating to hardware failure? Have you
contacted the OEM about the problems you are experience with the machine?

<It's about who is behind the wheel. You don't qualify to even toast a
piece of toast in a toaster it seems, let alone turn on a computer and
use it. You should give it up that is doing anything with any computer
period. You don't have the ability. You're too Frankenstein-ish in your
own nightmare you created yourself.>

Contact the laptop manufacturer for support.
Your problems go beyond Windows Vista and may be a bad install or
hardware related.

"I would rather roll back to windows XP"
Not an option since Windows Vista is preinstalled.
Since it is not an option, "wacky permissions" has nothing to do with
it.

If the computer is new, you can return it for a refund and purchase a
laptop with Windows XP if that is what you want.
Toshiba, Dell and probably other major OEMs continue to sell computers
with Windows XP.

nothing. You're not even a wannabe Database man either - you unknowing
how to write a program Englishman. You should turn in your computers,

How does the laptop run in Safe Mode?

In Normal Mode, run msconfig and disable everthing. How is the performance
after reboot? Restore one or two checkmarks in Msconfig, then assess system
performace. Do this untl you can identifiy the one or two applications
slowing you down.

Disable all antivirus and antispyware utilities. Notice any difference? In
the end, this is going to be a slow and methodical march to the solution OR
you could reinstall the OS and ONLY!!! a few absolutely necessary
applications from the Restore DVD, instead of restoring everything to the fat
factory defaults.

I had perfectly fine performance with a DELL with 512MB of RAM, until I
upgraded to 1GB. At 512MB, Vista dumbed itself down to the hardware. After
memory upgrade, it loaded more of itself - like Aero, Widgets, etc.
Whatever problem you are having is due to everything except Vista, otherwise
we would all be having problems with it.
