To install a program, you should right-click on the setup program and click
Run As Administrator. This will give it "admin" permissions and allow it to
install a program.

Hi;
In theory;right click to run as admin should work; however;either it's a
bug;or somrthings amiss badly; I tried installing Disckeeper 10 for Vista
build 5384;which has been recommended;and said workable in Vista. Right
clicking;and running as admin did not work at all.
In fact; it did try to install;got almost all the way through the
install;to the point of starting services;then hung up.
Came back with a message; Disckeeper could not start services;pls verify
that you have sufficient priveledge;and try again. At which point; I'm
thinking;HUH? I did run as admin. So;right clicked explorer;to run as admin
also;same results???
Don't know if this is a problem with Disckeeper;or the the "security"
UAC that is built intoVista
Ether way;very annoying;frustrating.
If you know of any help;it would be appreciated;because at this point;
I'm personally fed up with the "elevated" privelege crap
This whole idea;though it may seem more secure;has become very burdensome.

I agree it is frustrating when apps don't work like they should.

You are probably having problems with Diskeeper because it appears you are
using build 5472 of Windows. Diskeeper was made for build 5384 of Windows,
and is probably not compatible with the current release.

Such are the joys of running beta software.

Things will get better once Vista is released

ok but most install programs make a log of what files could not be installed
or what registry keys could not be written on my app the keys that need to
be written had the owner of trustedInstaller and after I took ownership of
all these keys the install would then work just fine but if I could make my
account a member of trusted installer group then that would save the time of
taking all the keys one by one.

took about 8hrs searching through regestry for each key
