I did a back up with my copy of Nero backup on my XP machine. I wanted to
transfer files under owner/my documents to my vista machine. I've
successfully done that but I now have a folder under 'owner' that I can't
delete. How can I correct this? Thanks.

Try this:
-logon as administrator if you haven’t
-right click folder or file
-Properties > Security
-use Security features to gain permission to have full control of folder.

Go to Help and Support for more info on “permissions”…

Also a quick workaround in some cases: go to lowest level of file inside a
folder and start deleting from there.

Hope this helps...

unnecessary, because you already get the escalation of privileges via UAC
prompt.

I don't assume that someone is logged-on as administrator unless they state
so. And if one is logged-on as a standard user without UAC permissions you
may or may not have permissions to other folders or programs depending on a
few factors.
There was no mention of UAC prompts in his statement.

if you're a standard user, the UAC will ask you for administrator password
and so you're able to elevate your privileges.

See if 'You cannot delete a file or a folder on an NTFS file system
volume' (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/320081) helps.

I am aware of how UAC works.

Please do not reply to me any more. My computers are running fine. It's
Steve who is seeking help.

Now, do you have the solution to Steve's problem? If so then tell Steve, not
me.
