You obviously have Network discovery in Vista turned on, because you can see
the XP machine.
I also have File Sharing ON
Password Protected OFF
I have same setup as you; printer hooked up to XP, with Vista in the LAN.
I hooked Vista to the XP printer by going into Vista's Network Sharing> Add
Network Device. Don't say that you want to hook a printer up to Vista, it
assumes that you are trying to directly connect a printer to Vista; look for
the Canon printer, and follow the prompts.
