 Getting very frustrated here. Thinking I may have to call MS
support
Have to Remove Student Home Office 2007 Trial(non-commercial)first.
Cannot remove through programs, Ccleaner or Revo Uninstaller. Somehow it
mysteriously just went from "Trial" to "non commercial Trial"?
I also had trouble when I originally installed the triall, they turned
it off after a week, til I emailed them and they sent me a link.
Probably Reman issue again, they probably thought I already had my trial
period.
Getting same 1402 error as many others here...since I cannot uninstall
through Programs...going by "Article ID: 928218"....tried 4 times.
I should point out this is a reman computer and I did have Office 2000
on here before, before trying out the trial. May be some remnants left
over.
So there may also be possible remnants of Office 2000. Can I run the
Installer Cleanup Utility(290301)after removing Office 2007, or will
that mess up other programs? I'd rather not use it. What a mess....I
know!
Here we go.........................................
I believe Error 1402 is pointing at:
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.pcb\PCB File\ShellNew]
although it says "UNKNOWN" rather than "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" in the
error report that would be where the key is, wouldn't it? Or is there
another key [xx??_XX??_XX??\.pcb\PCBFile\ShellNew] somewhere?
Since MS doesn't want you to know where it is, in the error report.
Said I don't have permission, so I was able to give full permission to
".pcb"
but still same error. However when clicking on "PCB File" I get error
cannot be opened...Access denied. I don't see "ShellNew" under that
string either.
Should I modify the PCB File and add that to it?
(hide protected operating system files is not checked)

Now when following the instructions in Article ID: 928218, I noticed
some discrepancies. And missing some keys: (this is in the order article
is set up)
1. In the Installer Folder Home and Student office msi file
(11e087b.msi) will not uninstall. Can I just delete it?
2. Office 11 was also in Shared Folder. Should I REMOVE it?
%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared
3. No Reg Key here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\*0FF1CE*
4. No Reg Key here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Installer\UpgradeCodes
\*F01FEC
5. No Reg Key here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18
\Products\*F01FEC
BUT I HAVE CURRENT VERSION 1 and CURRENT VERSION 2 with Office keys in
them. Would those be the ones to delete? Seems that may be where Home
and Student Office is,
Being a Reman, is that where the files would possibly now be located?
So as it seems, I have NONE of these folders under "CurrentVersion"
but under Current Version1" and "Current Version2"
I have not deleted them yet.
6. No Reg Key here: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Features\*F01FEC
or: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\*F01FEC
or: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\UpgradeCodes\*F01FEC
or: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Win32Assemblies\*Offic 12*
7. But win32 Assemblies has: c:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office12\ADDINS\MSOSEC.DLL
8. I do have 5 other Office Keys here; Maybe from Office 2000, they
don't specify any Office product name and date is different from the
Office 2007 keys.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall
Should I remove them too? I'm thinking "YES"...not certain though.
9. I have Office 9, 10, 11, and 12 all under:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office
I was thinking about just saving my pics and docs and running the
recovery disks, but
I would imagine the Current Version 1 and 2 files will still be
there...Reman and all.
Maybe if I just remove everything that has to do with Office,
I'll be able to install my Enterprise 2007. Hmmm?
I am especially suspicious of Current Versions 1 and 2.
Sorry for the mess...But I would appreciate any help I can get.
Many, Many Thanks In Advance! ~ Susa
