Trying to install Windows XP Home Edition as upgrade to Windows ME

Stuck on Blue Screen

I can not complete the upgrade because I get the dreaded blue screen saying
my C: drive is corrupted and there are bad files on it. I know that is not
true. I need to upgrade to Windows XP in order to use the iPod Nano software.
Can someone provide any assistance??
