Trying to set-up Exchnage 2k3 on win2k3 server SP2

I am running win2k3 server SP2 (and logged on to this machine) and am trying
to set-up Exchange 2003 server on it. This win2k3 machine (not the FSMO or
AD enabled) is a member of a domain that has a FSMO win2k3 server. This
machine and the FSMO are connected to the same router which is connected to a
DSL modem (that is connected to the Internet). The DSL modem is bridged with
the router. The router runs the DHCP. This machine and the FSMO have static
IP's (non-routable). However, the FSMO (due to the bridge with the router
and DSL modem) has the routable IP address when seen from the Internet.

I get this information from the dcdiag tool:

Domain Controller Diagnosis

Performing initial setup:
Done gathering initial info.

Doing initial required tests

Although the Guid DNS name

(174b3cfd-fdbb-4db2-ba87-9a7a2c16d06b._msdcs.domain_name.com)
couldn't

be resolved, the server name (www1.domain_name.com) resolved to the
IP

address (xx.xxx.xxx.xxx) and was pingable. Check that the IP address

is registered correctly with the DNS server.

The Exchange 2003 forestprep hangs, I guess because of the information from
the dcdiag tool. Furthermore, the netdiag tool says everthing passed.

(1) The FSMO DNS has the (non-routable) ip 192.168.1.10 host (A) record.
What do I need to do to the FSMO DNS? Or, do I need to do it at the FSMO DNS.
In the dcdiag tool report, the pingable ip is the routable ip from the
Internet.

(2) Or, do I need a different arrangement with the win2k3/Exchange 2k3
machine and the FSMO?

(3) Is having the win2k3/Exchange 2k3 machine and the FSMO/AD/DNS on the
same router (behind the DSL modem that is bridged with the modem) a problem?

I'm still lost here. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello,

Check that your exchange has the Domain Controller as primary dns.
The DC must have itself as primary dns server (and no secondary dns server
in your case)

Thank you that helped!!! I appreciate the advice! I do not understand why
this change worked. Can you explain, so I can expand my knowledge base.

Now, when I run /forestprep with Exchange 2k3, I get this message. Either I
do not have sufficient privileges/permissions or AD is too busy. I logged on
at the win2k3 server (not FSMO) with the admin account of the win2k3 FSMO
server. On the win2k3 FSMO server, I checked the "Member Of" tab and it says
administrator is a member of Enterprise and Schema admins.

Here is a dump from the Exchange Server Setup Progress log:
