hi, whenever my automatic update tries to download a new update it fails, the
error report gives a code 0x80070003 but I cannot find a solution that a mere
novice to the computer industry can understand. Can anyone help to fix this
problem of mine?

This issue appear if you modify the location of the program files folder.

You may need to clear the contents of the Datastore and Download folders.

“
This is the steps that helped me solve the problem.

Many tks for yr suggestion - this has enabled me to finally achieve
successful installation of KB 887472 & 886185 which I have been trying to do
for many weeks (or is it months?). Of course, my installation history on the
Windows Update page is now down to the two items just installed, but no
matter, the job's done.

Tks again

Ditto - I kept trying to get help from MS on this problem but all I got were
the workaround to use the KB number to download the patch. Also allowed me
to access the new Microsoft Update function that had also been failing with a
ox80070003 error code.

Thanks
