I have a Windows 98 system, very important to me, and I
installed the latest security update it said I needed and
when it was done it asked to reboot and I said yes.

It blue-screened then restarted. Now the background
picture comes up almost immediately and it just sits
there. The keyboard and mouse do not become active and I
can't get it to go into the dos mode before the
background comes up.

It is a plain nothing fancy, Hp Pavilian 8575C with
nothing special, no software to speak of, no gaming stuff
or anything. Almost just like it was when I got it from
HP.

How can I get it to startup again?
