Turbo Cache video cards

I recently bought a GForce video card with 256mb onboard and up to 512 with
TurboCache. How can I check if this video card is using the extra 256mb from
my RAM memory? Is TurboCache using ordinary RAM automaticly? I don't have to
set it? I tried both MS and NVIDIA drivers, but no one seems to have
settings for it.

Ok, I have GeForce 7200 GS. It comes with 128mb onboard and TC to 512mb. My
RAM memory is 4GB.
Do you think graphic rate of 2.4 on Vista is acceptable with this card? I
have really bad performaces in games like Second Life or MS Flight
Simulator. Even my onboard intel graphics seemed to be faster, even though
it had lower quality.

2.4 is too low. My laptop gets 3.0 with a 6150GO 64MB onboard, up t
512MB TC. Yours should be above 2.4, but I don't know what could b
wrong

However, even if you boost your score up the 7200 is unsuitable fo
playing any recent games. Only older games will run well, and you wil
not get good Flight Sim performance unless you move back to like versio
2000 or earlier

Ok, look, here's the thing with Nvidia cards. The first
number is the series, 4,5,6,7 etc. They're up to 9. The second is
essentially the speed of the card. A 6800 is much faster than a 7200
but doesn't have as many "features" (that nothing much uses anyway :-)

Soooo...it's not impossible that your on board graphics is better,
they've come a long way. OTOH you can probably score an 8600 for like 60
bucks on sale so you might consider an upgrade if you do any kind of
serious gaming. No need to spend 400 bucks for a 9800 GTX or whatever.

In the mean time, make sure your drivers are up to date. Nvidia cards
are very sensitive to driver issues.

Well, I just installed NVidia official driver (1.75.19) and it just got
worse ... 2.3 now lol
I am seriously considering just taking this card out and let onboard intel
take control. I don't remember exactly what rate I had when I had that on,
but for sure it was faster. A pity, cos NVidia's visual quality is lot
better.

Thanks for your info.
The thing is ... even for a card with 128mb onboard and which can use up to
512 of my RAM its performance is wayyy below any expectations. I have just
installed nvidia oficial drivers and it is even worse now ... 2.3. But at
least the graphics look a little nicer, so I'll keep it for now.
So, do you think I should try some thirdypart driver or something? Is there
a way to boost it up?

no amount of turbo cache or driver support will help you get better
performance with that card.....
the ''turbo cache'' is pretty crap in most cases as your system ram
usually runs a lot slower than your v-ram so it will cause more trouble
than good

its old my friend & vista is a new animal...

if you like i can select a card to fit your budget that will run rings
around your 7200GS
