Hi,

There are security updates which, when installed doesn't let me start
several well known other applications.
Now I have set autoupdates to download but not to install without
permission, but MS autoupdate still has installed faulty updates and
rebooted my PC.
How to stop securely every kind of automatic updating without permission?
The Automatic update options on a control panel have prooved to be not
reliable.
Which other services to stop manually?

I believe that everyone understands that:

1. I can't accept anyone (even not MS) rebooting my computer in the middle
of work
2. I don't want updates (even when these are named of a security kind) which
doesn't let other applications to work.

It's a bloody good question. Even though my update was set for weekly it
still connected every time I switched the computer on and then hogged all the
CPU. Switching it off resulted in that annoying balloon popping up all the
time telling my I was at risk. Then when I manually connect for an update the
damn progran takes over the computer yet again and I can only get away from
it by switching the machine off at the power button. This application is
worse than a virus.

I wish you well in your search.
