I do not see this little "big brother" spy bar as positive or a service, how do you turn it off in firefox, I DO NOT care to have everyone know I am on line with no privacy setting when I am checking my email, this is an AWFUL, OBNOXIOUS and INVASIVE ad on that I am SURE many do not want!!
Please advise!

Greetings
This is a feature actually. When you visit Hotmail, they use Messenger to display whether o
not your hotmail/e-mail contacts are online. If Messenger is not running, it starts u
automatically to provide this "feature"
That said, you can block this from happening in Internet Explorer itself. To do so, open u
Internet Explorer and choose the Tools menu. Then i
you are using IE7, choose Manage Add-ons and Enable or Disable Add-ons. If you are using IE8
just choose Manage Add-ons
Show the entries that run without requiring permission and the specific entry you will want t
disable is "Windows Live", which corresponds to the \Program Files\Window
Live\msgsc.14.0.8089.0726.dll file and CLSID/Class ID i
{E1771B7F-98BE-407F-BA67-AA16ADA5D0C5}. You may need to show the various columns to find th
exact one (there will be multiple 'Windows Live' entries). In IE8 you can also double-clic
each entry for the full information to show
After you have found it, choose the button to Disable it and Messenger will no longer b
started by any Microsoft websites. Be aware however that if/when Messenger is updated, thi
may be need to be done again (and will be a different file and CLSID). Additionally you ma
want to disable any other "Messenger" items listed, depending on what you have installed
