I am running Vista Business. I go to Control Panel/Program and Features/Turn
Windows Feature on and off, it is empty.

Any help is most appreciated.

No, nothing. I bought the machine a month or two ago, didn't use it much.
Only installed Office and tried to install VS 2005 professional. One good
fine day, after reading a SNMP book, wanted to turn on SNMP service, tried
on my XPProfessional, no problem. On Vista, the windows is just showed an
empty list. Sigh....

Did you wait for everything to load? It takes a minute or so.

Yes, I did. After a while or so, nothing appeared.

This might help.

The "Windows Features" dialog box is empty in Windows Vista, or you receive an error message that includes the following code when you try to use Windows Update: "0x80073712":

Hi Ramesh, I tried, it says "access is denied." What access I should open to
run it? I login as administrator.

Hi David,

Did you start the Command Prompt by right-clicking Command Prompt, clicking Run as administrator, and then typing administrator credentials? This opens the Admin Command Prompt.

it does not alter anything still got no features to turn on or off
as so many people seem to geet this problem i think microsoft needs to sort
it out urgently
i reckon some windows update has caused it to stop responding or something

we need urgent help to sort it and not keep quoting the registry key with
dirtystore cos i aint got that key
also the startup repair solution is also no good

try and fix it and report urgent

I understand your concern, but if you need urgent help, you need to contact Microsoft Product Support Services. This is a peer-to-peer newsgroup, volunteered by many people including the Microsoft MVPs. This is not the official support channel.
