Can someone tell me how to turn off automatic windows update? Simple steps
please....I am a complete novice

Go to All programs,Accessories,System Tools,Security Centre,Windows Update.

Hi Lily - to turn off wins auto update go to 'start' then choose 'settings'
then 'control panel'. When you get into 'control panel' choose the outomatic
update icon and open this. You will find in that window different choices to
be made - and one of them has to be checked in order to stop the automatic
update. Hope this helps! I've had to do the same thing myself due to
Microsoft continuing to download unnecessary programs over and over again,
then saying they've been successfully installed - but then I finda few days
later the auto feature is trying to install the same unneeded program all
over again - 15 times in my case! I have Win Professional 2000. Good luck,
