Hi there,
I copied all the movies and TV shows we'd recorded on our older living room
XP media center over to our newer Vista laptop (into users\public\Recorded
TV) to take with us and watch while overseas.
Now that we're overseas, upon starting Media Center on the Vista laptop and
navigating to the TV section, I initially noticed icons/labels starting to
appear for the new recordings, but then they subsequently mostly disappeared.
Upon checking in Explorer, I confirmed Media Center had AUTO-DELETED all but
a small number of the recordings.
My first thought as to why this would happen was perhaps because the default
setting for the amount of storage allocated for TV recordings is not very
large, but since the laptop has no TV tuner card and, as a result it would
seem, no visible way to navigate to these settings to see what they are, I
have no way to confirm whether this was the cause (ignoring the fact that it
makes no sense to honour such settings in the first place, if there is no TV
tuner card and/or the settings aren't visible).
That all aside, I tried downloading and running what appears to be last
week's most popular free undelete program (EASUS Deleted File Recovery 2.1.1)
at download.com, but it didn't list any files as having been deleted from
users\public\Recorded TV, so it's not clear to me whether the recordings are
recoverable.
Does anyone have any further suggestions/insights at this point, on either
of these fronts?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Rob
