Hi everyone -

I have build an HTPC with a Tuner card that is currently successfully
connected to a High Definition DirecTV set-to-box. What i didn't expect was
when i installed my Tuner Card [WinTV-HVR 2250] -> the only option to input
into this card was a SVIDEO cable, or a Composite Cable (red, white, yellow)
via an adapter.

When the TV show was showing in my Windows 7 Media Center x64 - I noticed my
channels were NOT coming in - in HD. Did i buy the wrong Tuner card?

Are there no HDMI TV Tuner cards where i can connect from my set-top-box to
the TV Tuner card with an HDMI cable?

Thanks in advance!
Gabriel

Media center does not support High Definition TV without a "CableCard"
or Off the air ATSC broadcast.

Only certified manufacturers and cable companies can supply a CableCard.

Your best method is to get a DVR from DirecTV.

There is one device that can capture and record HD content. It uses the
Component output.

Keep in mind the Hauppauge hdpvr will require some work if you want to use
it in media center. It will not be a plug and play solution like a
conventional turner. You might want read this owners thread on AVS forum for
more info.

For HD you'll find OTA, clear Qam or very soon digital cable with a M-card a
much easier solutions.
