Two reboots required??

I am running all windows 2003 servers with a WSUS server. I have
noticed, on occiation, that after I install windows updates and reboot
the server the server is no longer accessible from Remote Desktop.
When I view the server in WSUS to see if the updates installed
correctly, they all say "Reboot Required"...

So my question is, does anyone know why this happens?? I know the
problem resolves itself with another reboot BUT sometimes I don't have
the time to go onsite to log in locally.

Thanks
