The two updates are:
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.0 Service Pack 3
(KB928367)
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1
(KB928366)
I cleared and reinstalled both .NET frameworks and their service packs using
the instructions at
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archi...10/502439.aspx and now both
updates seem to have installed fine; they don't show up anymore as needing to
be installed, and nothing tries to install on shutdown. They also both show
up in Add & Remove Programs.
HOWEVER, there is no log file for them in C:\WINDOWS along with the rest of
the KBnnnnnn.log files. According to knowledge base article 910339, there
should be. There is a prefetch file for each and there is an uninstaller for
each, but no log file with the format %WINDOWS%\KBnnnnnn.log. For 'nnnnnn' I
used the actual update number as well as the numbers of 2 related knowledge
base articles I used (910339 and 824643), as instructed at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910339 . Is this a problem? If not, then why
is there no log file and why would Microsoft say the update's not installed
if there's no log file?
Thanks for your help.
