Hi,
One of my customers informed me a Postscript Type 1 font stopped
working. I checked on my computer and found the same problem.

The font is still installed in the font directory. Double clicking on it
shows me the font contents.

However, CHARMAP does not show the font and it does not appear in Word
font list also.

Trying to install the font, gives an error the font already installed,
after removing the font and installing it again CHARMAP and Word show
the font.

However, after boot the font disappears again.
It probably has something to do with the latest Windows Updates because
if not the customer would have complained sooner.

I can send you the font for testing if needed.
What do I do now?
Thanks, Reuven

Hello Reuven,

Try here: http://tinyurl.com/elmwk , for some info on type 1 Font.

Play safe in case you try to alter the System Registry, as advised
on the Sponsors Links on the above tynyurl's Site. Make a backup first.

Good Luck, x@y

lol: I believe that solves your issue.

Best regards,

Hi Michel,
How does it solve my problem? I am from Israel and my character encoding
is Hebrew.
It is still regular Windows/XP PRO and Hebrew is an added language. This
does not have anything to do with Postscript type 1 fonts.
Regards, Reuven

Installing Adobe Type Manager might help in managing the
Postscript Type 1 Fonts. We routinely install it in every
system we process. And by inspection, ATM looks immune to
the whims of Windows Update.

Hi,
I tried it. Downloaded the lite version from Adobe site and installed it
but it did not help. Accessing the font though through Adobe manager
causes it to be recognized in Windows also but it's a manual task and
can not be done after each reboot.
I am still looking what caused the problem
Thanks, Reuven

I am haivng the same problem with postscript fonts. My graphics department
cannot use any of the older ps fonts they have that were working on XP and
sevrer2003. The show up but are not recognized by vista. I install type
manager as wella nd that has been no help. I am hoping the fonts will work
with the RC or production release, we dont want to but new fonts.
