typing correction problem in WLM

My wife in typing an E-Mail could not make corrections. Every time she
deleted one letter and typed in the correct letter the next letter would be
deleted. I couldn't find any solution to the problem, The auto correction(?)
would just restore the mispelled word as it was originally typed.

Symptoms indicate 'insert' mode active...
The insert key acts as toggle for the insert mode.

Sounds like the Insert key needs to be hit once to allow the correct letter
to be inserted where she deleted the incorrect letter. The "Insert" key
toggles off and on to allow an actual insert, or to be destructive (the
omission / replacement of the "next letter").

Sounds like the "Insert" key needs to be depressed once to allow insertion
rather than destruction. The "Insert" key is a toggle between insertion and
destruction / replacement. Since she deleted the incorrect letter you want
to insert. Otherwise, it "destructs", or replaces the next letter.

This morning when I turned on the computer and got into WLM the insert mode
was deactivated and on my second message I toggled the insert key on a
correction and it became active. I have always dragged, highlighted changes
or pasted texts, so have never used the insert key which I may some day find
out how to use.
Thanks for your prompt responses and clear explanations!

You're welcome...I rarely use that key, but have noticed(usually later and undesired) that it was toggled 'on'
