typing errors in Mail & Wordpad - jumps back to curser

I just discovered this website and even in typing this, the curser "I beam" stays in a fixed position and when typing, letters frequently jump back to the curser, creating errors.... have to backarrow, delete/backspace then arrow forward to relevant position.
It's just so frustrating. I am running the original Vista Home Premium.32 bit and have checked and seem to have downloaded all available upgrades.
The problem shows up in W.Mail and Wordpad... in fact, all keyboard applications it seems.
Please, can anyone provide a solution to the problem.

PS There have been no replies to this request for assistance .Is there no one with any knowledge of this problem and a solutions???

I have spent some time checking around and discovered the fix to my problem. Go to Control Panel}hardware& sound}Mouse}Tapping}Typing. Select/Tick "Tap off when typing". Click Apply& OK.
Surely someone had experienced this problem.
