Typing gets erased and menus keep jumping in IE and Firefox

I recently noticed that when I type in the search bar on IE or Firefox, the
typing cursor would just go back to the start and would only let me start
typing from the start again. Also, when I click on a menu in Firefox, it
starts jumping to other menus very rapidly, not letting me click on what I
need to. Is this another Vista problem and what should I do about it?
