Thank you for any assistance. We purchased the computer with vista already
downloaded on it, therefore when we contact microsoft via phone, no one is
willing to assist us. We have been having this same update try to load since
September with the same results.

Question for khoney1018: Were you able to successfully install the updates? I
had the same problem with all updates you listed. If you are still having
problems do the following: in the Windows Update panel, un-select the line
for the Cumulative Security IE7 (KB939653) one, and run the Install on all
others that are selected. I am pretty sure these others will now install.
They did for me -- actually, I did each of them individually, but I'm
convinced that the problem is with the KB939653 update and/or a conflict with
something that the computer came pre-installed with.

Just like you, my notebook is quite new (3 months old, with Vista
pre-installed). I submitted a 'trouble report' to Microsoft and I am working
on other suggestions the tech person has offered for the KB939653. Disabling
McAfee did nothing. I'm supposed to now rename the WU folder (I haven't tried
that yet); and if that doesn't work, attemp a 'manual' download from the MS
website.

What I am seeing is that this KB939653 goes through the WU installation
process and even the configuration steps during re-booting . . . it actually
drops off from the "available updates" in the WU panel for a few seconds
after re-booting, but then it shows up again! There must be something that at
the very end of this cycle keeps it from truly installing. This has been
going on for about 3 weeks now. To keep WU from continually trying to
(unsuccessfully!) download and install this KB939653, I am currently "hiding"
it. Pretty frustrating.

Let me know how it goes for you.
