I have a programme on my pc that will not work properly if UAC is on.
But works fine if UAC is off.

I want to run with UAC on. Is it possible to get this programme to run
normally, but keep UAC on?

Thanks

Have you tried the "Run as administrator" option when starting the program?
That seems to solve the problem on occasion.

If that is the case, then one can try installing the program outside of
Program Files, where there is no UAC protection. I have to do this with
mIRC, as I use an older version as the new builds do not work with my addin
scripts.

And when one goes to run the setup.exe one might right-click on it and
select "Run as administrator". Vista is supposed to pick up on setup.exe
programs but it seems there are enough exceptions now ..

When one runs a setup.exe with a manifest isn't Vista supposed to detect the
word 'setup' and automatically run the program with administrator
privileges? If it is configured correctly? But I think some setup.exe
programs will not run with those privileges. So .. the program might install
better if the setup is run with administrator privileges .. so right-click
on the setup.exe and select "Run as administrator" when one goes to install
the program.
