Whenever I try to run an application as an administrator under my normal user
account the computer hangs. I press "Runas administrator" and I get the
credential input screen with the rest of the screen greyed out. I use my
admin the credentials and press OK, the screen the stays greyed out and
nothing happens. The same thing happens when I just press the CANCEL button
under the credential input screen. Any solutions?

UP

Hi al
Same problem here: when I am logged in as standard user andsom
software needs my action due to UAC, I get the grey 'secure desktop
screen asking for my admin password. But when I enter that password
nothing happens. The credential prompt disappears and the grey scree
stays there forever. I can only press ctrl+alt+del and then 'cancel' t
get back to my normal desktop
Also I tried deactivating the secure desktop, but even without that
the issue remains: the UAC kicks in and asks for my admin password, an
after I enter it, the computer starts thinking forever with the littl
blue circle circling and circling
Has anyone met this problem and found a solution? I have to say the UA
used to work perfectly well but this strange behaviour appeared after
number of software installs (and so can't tell which one caused thi
exactly)

RDemandt: did you find a solution yourself? Btw, would your computer b
a HP? Mine is, and I wonder if this is not related to some of the H
software updates I installed on my computer..

Thanks all for your help

well 'RDemandt' is apparently the name of the guy who posted th
previous msg in this thread :

Anyway, I got the solution: this is a HP-software related problem
There is an incompatibility with 'Credential Manager', which is
component of the 'HP Protect Tools suite'. I deactivated Credentia
Manager through the Protect Tools Parameters panel, and the UAC i
functioning normally again. Except that, of course, fingerprint login i
now impossible since it is managed by Credential Manager..
