Ubuntu under the spotlight

I have always wondered this.

Ubuntu, it is generally well known, as being behind Windows Vista or 7 in
the sales department, possibly on a scale of about 50-1. Normally, sales
indicate popularity on a product. We can also assume from these figures
that volume of sales could also indicate a certain quality of that product.

Therefore, on that assumption, the 50-1 deficit that Ubuntu lags behind in
the sales department, is possibly not even the 2nd best nor even the 3rd or
4th best OS come to think of it.

I therefore pondered on this question. Why on earth should I settle for
second best, let alone third or fourth best?

If they can afford it, most people in life want the best. That is why I
will be buying Windows 7 this month.

Although I will have to purchase it and not get it free as you can Ubuntu,
you have to ask yourself this question. If Ubuntu is so great, why is it
free? Could there be a catch? Of course there is, there always is with
free products.

The answer is, because they cannot give it away in the first place. That is
why Ubuntu will never be able to compete with the big boys.

I hope this little insight now explains why Ubuntu is just a toy and it will
always need sales trolls as Alias is, to work so hard and try in vain to
shift some of the sales for this product.

In that case my answer would be, they give it away because they cannot sell
it on a meaningful scale.

I was not cracking a joke Dano but delivering the mere facts before you.
Therefore this is an *insight* to the truth and the facts.

It is like this Dano. Imagine there are hundreds of people around you that
have said something and they are laughing uncontrollably. You suddenly sit
and think to yourself, what is funny about that? Or, where is the joke?

Then you turn around and gradually realise that you are the joke itself and
they were all laughing at you. Because you have not grasped the
comprehension of understanding the cryptic message put out there, just
because you think it's a joke and do not understand it, does not stop it
from being a genuine insight to the situation.

Sorry Dano, it was an insight combined with facts and truths.

Sorry stubby, I was just posting what I thought was an interesting insight
into certain facts and truths and contrary to what you say, I thought this
was very useful and interesting. Sorry you disagreed, but that is just a
cross I will have to bear.

I have to agree with Saila on this point. She put it in a very eloquent way
as basically saying it is crap.

I'm not surprised.

No, I don't charge for Ubuntu. If you will turn your brain on, I usually
give the URL so people can download it. Here it is for you, right to the
download page:

<http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloading?release=desktop-newest&mirror=http%3A%2F%2Fubuntu-mirror.cs.colorado.edu%2Freleases%2F&arch=i386>

Enjoy!

See, you just got it from me without paying one red cent.
