ultimate: device installed every time I connect camera..

hi,

I have been transferring photos from my camera with no problems ever
since I purchased my camera about a year ago..

but now when I connect the camera I think it connects something in the
background every time I connect the camera.. and the computer not only
slows down to a crawl, it becomes practically unusable.. the mouse
"freezes", it doesn't respond, it does jerky movements.. I can tell
something's running in the background, but I can't tell what.. as soon
as I disconnect the camera it's ok again..

now I just got this notification (screenshot):

why would the computer now install this (whatever this is) EVERY TIME I
connect the camera? (the SAME camera.. I only have one..)

correction: above, first line of 2nd paragr, I meant: when I connect the
camera I think it INSTALLS something...
