Ultimate Extras & Windows features being blank

Hi,

Really stuck with this one.
I cannot seem to download any Ultimate extras <other updates do seem to
work>, also if I try to access Additional Windows features, the box shows a
brief "please wait", and then it just goes blank.

This doesnt appear to be an un-common problem by the looks of things. The MS
aritcle to fix this, doesnt work as the reg key it suggests deleting doesnt
appear to exist?!!

Other than re-installing Vista, has anyone found a fix to the above
problems??

Please advise

Kind Regards

Rob

Rename the SoftwareDistribution folder. (Because of possible folder
corruption or other errors.)
Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.

Rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder:
a. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%, and then click OK.
b. Right-click the SoftwareDistribution folder, and then click Rename.
c. Type SoftwareDistribution.old, and then press ENTER to rename this
folder.
Create a new folder called "SoftwareDistribution"
Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.
Rerun Windows Update.

Ok I shall give this a go, I would assume this is aimed at getting windows
updates to work correctly?
Will this have any bearing on the issue of the windows features box being
blank??
