Ultimate upgrade activation question

Upgraded from an activated home premium to Ultimate.
when I go to activate this new version it tells me that the 'key' cannot be
activated because it's an upgrade

any suggestions??

Did you purchase a Windows Vista Ultimate license (Product Key)?

If your Ultimate DVD was an Upgrade DVD, then the Install must be started
from your Desktop, i.e., after you've booted into Windows. If, instead, you
booted directly to an Upgrade DVD to start the Install, Activation won't
accept your key. To remedy this, re-install Ultimate, starting the Install
after you've booted into Windows (put the DVD in only when you're at your
Desktop).
