un-downloadable update

'windows updates' has told me i need to download 'xp service pack 3'.
i have 'vista', won't download above tells me it is 'error 8024002d', that
it is important and that i need the disc 'microsoft office professional with
front page'.
can anyone enlighten me as to what this is all about and what i need to do.

SP3 for what?

Part of working with anything is reading and comprehending what you read.
Part of getting help remotely is carefully repeating word-for-word what you
are seeing.

What is ACTUALLY likely said was "Office XP Service Pack 3" - not just 'xp
service pack 3'...

So do you have Microsoft Office XP (or some component of it like Word 2002,
Excel 2002, Powerpoint 2002, Outlook 2002, Frontpage, etc installed?) Do
you have the original installation media for it?

Error Code: 0x8024002D
means - a full-file patch failed because the source was required

I'm guessing Office XP SP3.

Options:
1. Repair Office install and try the patch again.
2. Try installing the patch with the Office CD in the installation drive
3. Try downloading the full SP3 patch and install
