Unabe to update windows XP Home sp2

for some unknown reason i am unable to update windows. When i try to it says
there is a file missing and to download it. i did this but it just shows the
same message again.

Open a command prompt window and type the command:

regsvr32 msxml3.dll

then restart Windows and try again.
