After downloading Internet Explorer 7, my Username & Password are no longer
valid when trying to access my SpeedTouch 585 Modem Web Site. There is always
a window that appears saying that authorization is required. My OS is: XP
Home Edition.

Following are 3 options that were tried without any success:

#1: When I do a system restore to go back to my previous I.E., I get access
to my modem Web Site very easily. I downloaded I.E.7 three times without any
results.

#2: With the help of my ISP, my modem was reset to factory default. then
re-install.

#3: I deleted all my Passwords on I.E., from the tools menu.

Any suggestions? I sure would appreciate your help.

IE7 doesn't work with SpeedTouch. FWIW, there will be a hardware update
for the router to resolve this issue. Check with the manufacturer from
time to time.
From another MVP who uses that router :

Hi MowGreen,

Thank you so much for your response. I sent an e-mail to SpeedTouch Help, &
this is what they told me to do & it works:

Start / Run: fill in: CMD, Press OK / In the DOS box (black screen) type in:
telnet 192.168.1.254 <enter> / Username:????? <enter> / Password:?????
<enter> / On the telnet prompt enter: system config digestauth=disabled
<enter> / type in: saveall <enter> / Close the window & try your SpeedTouch
Modem Web Site.

Good Luck
