Unable to access Windows 2000 Update

When trying Windows Update from the Start button, I receive an HTTP error 404
at the Microsoft updates web page. When I update Office 2003 I have no
problem.
Their are only two ways I can update Windows 2000, one is manually by
installing each service pack one at a time at the Windows 2000 download web
site. Or second is using Automatic Updates which does work and installs the
updates.
I still do not know why I cannot access http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
to update Windows 2000
