unable to adjust screen resolution

After downloading multiple updates, the screen resolution changed to 640X480
and the color bit to 4. I attempted to change these settings, clicked
"Apply", but the computer will not accept the new settings. I checked the
Microsoft website for updates on drivers - none. I also went through the
troubleshooting process with no success. What other options are there other
than using a system restore point?

Perhaps one of the multiple updates is the culprit, but you failed to let us
know what they are.

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista x64 SP2) when
posting to this newsgroup.

What updates did you install?

CrystalBall© sez...

A device driver is not installed or a hardware device does not function
correctly after you install a Windows Vista Service Pack:
