unable to connect to update page

when attempting to update windows I receive the following message: "Files
required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered or installed on
your computer. To continue register or reinstall the files for me now
(recommended).
When I click on that option it looks like it is reigestering something but
then it loops to the same message page. Any suggestions/

i figured it out. I had to manually reregister the svr32 msxml3.dll. i am now
able to update windows

.. to re-register go to start then run. on the command line type regsvr32
msxml3.dll hit enter. you should get a response that it has been registered.
