Unable to download and install windows updates

When I vist the update site, after selecting the new updates and going to
download I get "Error Code: 0x80246008 "
I've looked at some of the trouble shooting guide, and one entry says:
"Set Background Intelligent Transfer Service to Automatic and verify the
Status is Started. "
I've looked at this service and it was set to manual. I changed it to
automatic but when it starts it says:
"Error 126: The specified module could not be found."

Any ideas?

You may receive an error message that contains the "0x8DDD0018" code or the "0x80246008" code when
you try to download updates from the Microsoft Windows Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update
