Hi Please someone direct me to an answer.

I've read all the other messages about problems downloading and there seems
to be a lot of people with this problem. I'm on a networked pc signed in as
the administrator, trying to download anything and this is what happens...
it shows the download as working, I have the close dialogue box after
download unchecked but it closes anyway and then the file is not in the
folder I'm saving it to. I have tried numerous folders on the local computer
on the network on a flash drive. I've tried open instead of save - nothing..
I've tried save target as - nothing ... !!!! AAAARRRGGGGHHHHH
Nothing works. HELP please!!!!

Maybe your "network" administrator had prohibited downloads due to company
policy?

It sounds like you are an administrator - of your computer.

That is not the same thing as a network administrator - who controls what
each and every computer on the network can, or can not, access.

Richard - I am the administrator of the network here also. There are no
policies set to restrict downloads.

I have downloaded files across the network as administrator and it does
sound like a rights issue.

Well, just some ideas:

1. Clear cache of IE7 and set it larger.

2. Make sure any firewall either hardware or software is not blocking
downloads.

3. IE7 has a Passive FTP setting under the Advanced tab of Internet Options
... try toggling it .. restart IE7 .. attempt to download .. you can toggle
it back after.

Is you Anti Virus or Firewall or a Security Setting blocking the download. That is how it looks and sounds like from your description of the issue.
I am running a Server and have 2 other systems on it networked, I have to disable my Firewall for downloads.

Hmm, downloads seem to go into a temp file and then that is copied /
moved to the target location, if the target is not accessible then
that's where it will fail but there should be an error message. Can you
search for files by date (Including hidden) and see anything that looks
about the right size with an odd filename.

When you say it shows as working do you mean it shows the time countdown
and everything but then just closes, or do you mean it looks as if it's
going to start downloading normally but just dies?

I assume you can save files and create sub folders manually.

Hello Theresa. i have been having the exact same dilemma that you are
experiencing almost word for word. Click on a download, shows me the
progress bar and time and all that. Then when the download is complete the
progress box closes and no matter where i go on my computer that file is no
where to be found. I dont know how dictative the people at microsoft could
be to invent a browser that doesnt let you download anything. It even tricks
you into thinking you have. At any rate I am clueless as to what to do. The
good folks at microsoft have informed me that they can fix my problem over
the phone for a meger 80 dollars. WOW what a steal. If anyone can help a
frustrated customer i would enjoy. Thanks
