I have the same problem as David, the Files required for
Automatic/Windows Update are not registered or installed, and it goes back to
the same error no matter how i try to refresh or install according to its
instructions. Can any one help?

Hi,

Some have posted that registering MSXML3.DLL fixed this problem.

Register MSXML3.DLL and see if it helps:

1. Click Start.

2. Choose Run.

3. In the Run box, type (or copy/paste from this post)

%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe %windir%\system32\MSXML3.DLL

(note the space there in the middle)

4. Click OK.

This worked for me. I tried the IEreg.bat file creation in another post but
it didn't work because this dll file was not included in the batch file. I
ran this simple command and it worked without a reboot.

Thanks.
