I attempted to install the new upgrade for Windows Live Messenger. After
installing, it would not sign in as the 'side-by-side' was not configured
properly. I uninstalled and attempted to reinstall the program. It will not
allow me to download it. It says that I still have the program. I have gone
into my control panel, and gone to the uninstall programs section, and
cannot find windows live essentials, or windows live messenger. I have
deleted all shortcuts and it is not listed in any of my program lists. Please
help!!!!

Greetings Melissa,

Please try my ZapMessenger program which should eliminate any blocking issues installing
Messenger:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/zapmessenger.asp

Then try installing Messenger 2009 again:

Hi Jonathan,

You're a genius! It worked, I have officially downloaded MSN. However, it
now continues to tell me that the service is temporarily unavailable. It has
done so for the past day or so. Do I have another problem here?

Hi Melissa,

Well I can tell you that the service isn't down. Messenger was working before you upgraded
though, right?

In the prompt where it's saying it's unavailable, can you click the 'Show details' button and
provide the error code? That will at least be a starting point to where the problem is.

Also, if you're presented with a Troubleshoot button, click that and see which tests fail and
which pass. That also will be a good indicator to where the problem lies.
