I have not been able to download any updates since I bought Vista in January.
Please help to fix this problem.

Thanks.

Did you purchase a brand-new Vista machine or a machine that was used or
reconditioned but new for you?

Is the machine still under Warranty or Service Contract?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine
(e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?

(You may be seeing the affects of a hijackware infection.)

I bought this machine new in 2003. Everything worked fine until I purchased
Vista in January. My virus program is Kaspersky. I do not use McFee or
Norton. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks.

Did you upgrade WinXP to Vista, did you install Vista on a separate
partition, or did you format & do a clean install of Vista?

Is it Vista SP1 or Vista (w/out SP1)?

I upgraded to Vista from WinXP. It's Vista with SP1.

On a side note, I now cannot send e-mails with Outlook (though I can receive
them). I called my ISP and they told me it was a Microsoft problem. I
called Microsoft and they told me it's a ISP problem. That ended up being 75
minutes of my life I cannot get back.

Thanks for your reply.

When did you upgrade to Vista (approx. date)?

When did you install Kaspersky AntiVirus? Have you purchased it?

Had a firewall been enabled at all times since the upgrade?

Were you having any problems whatsoever when you were running WinXP?

Assuming it's not related to your updates problem (??), post about your OL
issues here: microsoft.public.outlook.general.
