unable to download updates for windows!!

Is any one else having the same problem or can anyone out there help me????
i am trying to download the updates:

Every time they start to download it just says failed next to them?? What is
going on???
I have spoken to microsoft on the phone and they dont want to know!!! can
anyone please help. thanks

does the 'details' say 0kb downloaded, 0kb ready to install?
if so, same problem that ms has not yet fixed and may not fix, based on what
I have seen.

Having the same problem with 5 updates on both my XP Home and XP pro systems,
still dont have an answer.

Today is the first time I've seen this. The Cumulative Security Update for
Internet Explorer for Windows XP (KB905915) fails at the download.

I'll keep trying the download every 2-3 hours and will check this board for
updates, too.

I don't if this will help you but I was having the same trouble and I went to
the System Configuration Utility tool and turned on some of the microsoft
background services and rebooted and was able to install the updates with no
problem. Sorry, I can't remember which services that I turned on. It seems
someone from microsoft should know which ones have to be on to install the
updates. Good luck

"Ooookaaaayyyy, so everybody has a problem with the Windows Updates that
won't
download and install. I found the trick to this. Here's the trick: Down in
your task bar near the clock are all of your icons. Right click on each one
of the one at a time and a menu will pop up, select "Close" or "Exit" until
you see no more of these icons except the speaker icon. Those icons are
programs that runs in the back ground. Make sure that they are all closed
out, then try logging into Windows Updates again. They should download and
install normally like they should be. This is most common with Windows 2000
Professional with Service Pack 4 installed. Any of you having the same or
simliar problems with other Windows versions, please read the instructions
above and hopefully it will work for you. Good luck and I hope it works a
miracle for you.
FYI: I have been a computer tech for a long time and I have been successful
in solving such strange behaviors in computers."

that worked for me. I am using Windows XP service pack 1 and just
downloaded 17 updates that were a long time coming.
