Unable to downstream video using Internet Explorer to access Windo

Question

I'm running Vista with Windows Media Player 11. When I attempt to
downstream
video from a website using Internet Explorer to open WMP, I get the page
"Internet Explorer is unable to access this website".

The only way to view the video is to first download (save) to my desktop.
It will then open WMP. This extra step is a wast of time.

Does anyone have a fix for this problem?

You can do one of three things.
1. install VLC media player and Mplayer and try to tell internet expoder to
use them,
2. use firefox and try it.
3. Just get rid of Vista and use Linux. It will work. Try PCLinuxOS from
www.PCLinuxOS.com

You've installed a codec that is doing that.

Not true FRANK. Windows Vista does not come with the abilities to play
anything in WMP 11. It should be called Windows Media Paperweight 11. The
codecs are left out on purpose so you have to buy them. Who would be stupid
enoulgh to do that or to pay for them? I want to use the free players.

Further more VLC and Mplayer will work fine!

Oh, that's strange seeing as how all of our Vista Ultimate boxes are
setup to play all but QT RM files. So we have QT & RM installed.
Are you sure you know what you're talking about cause about a half a
billion Windows users disagree with you.
We have no problems playing any audio/video file. Do you?

Is that the lie you're telling the people you're ripping off by
installing linux?

Who would be stupid

No one I know? Were you dumb enough to pay someone for them?
You seem that stupid.

I want to use the free players.

Well, we use WMP, QT & RM at no cost. You paid for WMP or QT or RM, huh?
No more lies now, ok?
The more you post the dumber you sound.
Keep posting, ok?

Any audio/video file? WMP can't natively play MP4 files and stumbles
badly on some DivX files, some MPEG-2, plus some flavors of AVI plus
other common types too. Those are FACTS Frankie no nothing, not one of
your wet dreams.

I hate to startle you out of your drunken stupor but our installs of
Vista Ultimate (not Business) does not "stumble" playing Divx files and
with the proper codec plays all of the av files we've come across.
As for your ignorant "wet dream" comment thats proly just ****ing in
your bed when you've passed out from too much booze!

Adam, the newsgroup drunken sod!

Sure Frankie, just try to lie your way out of another blunder. That's
