Did you remove the update/s to see if that fixed your anti virus problem?
Did you investigate the possibility that it was a coincidence and the
problem may be Nortons?
http://www.symantec.com/search/
Symantec/Nortons
for example, I did three searches and came up with:-
Norton AntiVirus 2002 Auto-Protect is disabled on startup
Document ID:2001126876630866
Last Modified:10/02/2004
Norton AntiVirus 2003 Auto-Protect is disabled on startup
Document ID:2002101608291506
Last Modified:04/10/2004
Norton AntiVirus 2004 Auto-Protect is disabled on startup
Document ID:2003101616333606
Last Modified:04/10/2004
I note Nortons AntiVirus 2005 on WinXP Pro SP2, all updates downloaded and
installed - no problem with Nortons.
Hope this assists in researching the problem.
